How to edit a PDF
- Open the PDF. Drop the document you want to edit and pick a page.
- Pick a tool. Choose Edit text, Add text, a shape, Draw, Image, or Whiteout from the palette.
- Edit on the page. Click existing text to replace it, drag to place an object, then set colors, size, and stroke or fill.
- Download. Save the edited PDF; edits and objects are baked in and standard fonts embedded.
Most PDF edits shouldn't require a round trip to a server or a desktop suite: fixing a typo, adding a note, boxing a figure, dropping in a logo, or covering a stray mark. This editor brings those into one canvas — select existing text to rewrite it, add formatted text, draw shapes and arrows, place images, draw freehand, and whiteout regions — all on the page, all on your device.
Editing existing text is a hybrid: the tool attempts a real in-place rewrite of the document's text and, when the original font can't be edited cleanly (subset or CID fonts, kerning that splits a word), it falls back to covering the original and redrawing your text so the result is reliable across real-world PDFs. New text and shapes are drawn with pdf-lib using standard fonts, keeping the rest of the document untouched.
For a single quick text box use Add text; for highlights and sticky notes use Annotate; to permanently remove sensitive content use Redact; and to sign use Sign.
Frequently asked questions
Can I replace text that's already in the PDF?
Yes. Click a line of text and edit it in place. The tool first tries a true in-place rewrite of the underlying text; when a font can't be edited cleanly it automatically covers the original and redraws your new text so it still works on any PDF.
Can I add shapes and pick their colors?
Yes — draw rectangles, ellipses, lines, and arrows, and set the stroke color and width plus an optional fill color for closed shapes.
Can I add images and freehand drawings?
Yes. Place PNG or JPEG images anywhere on the page, and use the Draw tool for freehand strokes with your chosen color and thickness.
How do I hide something without redacting?
Use Whiteout to cover a region with an opaque box. For permanent, secure removal of sensitive content, use Redact instead.
Is my PDF uploaded to edit it?
No. The page is rendered and all edits composed with pdf-lib in your browser, so the document never leaves your device.
