Removing a background is the first step for product shots, profile pictures, and cutouts you want to paste onto a new scene. Most tools do this in the cloud; here the segmentation model runs on your own device, which matters when the photo is personal or unreleased.

The model separates the main subject from everything behind it and outputs a transparent PNG, so you can place the cutout on any color, gradient, or background image. Clean, well-lit subjects with clear edges give the sharpest masks.
