# XML formatter & minifier — pretty-print or minify, no upload

> Format (pretty-print) or minify XML in your browser and check that it's well-formed. Nothing is uploaded — your XML stays in the tab.

Pretty-print XML for readability or minify it, and confirm it's well-formed, all in the browser. The document is parsed on your device with no upload.

XML from APIs and exports often arrives as one unreadable line. Pretty-printing reveals the structure so you can navigate it, and minifying does the opposite when you need a compact payload.

For JSON and YAML use their dedicated formatters; to convert between data formats use the data converter.

## How to

1. **Paste XML.** Paste the XML you want to format or minify.
2. **Choose an action.** Indent it for reading or strip whitespace to shrink it.
3. **Copy.** Copy the result back into your project.

## FAQ

### Does it check that my XML is valid?

It checks that the XML is well-formed (correctly nested and closed tags). Validation against a specific schema (XSD) is separate from well-formedness.

### Can it handle large XML files?

It parses and reformats in the browser, so size is bounded by your device's memory rather than a server limit.

### Is my XML uploaded?

No. Formatting happens locally, so the document stays in the tab.

There is no upload endpoint — your files are processed in this browser tab. Open your network tab and check.
