# About SafePaper

> SafePaper is a private workspace of 200+ file tools that all run inside your browser. There is no upload endpoint for your files.

## Why it exists

Most free online file tools upload your documents to a server, process them there, and ask you to trust a deletion promise. SafePaper takes the promise off the table: work happens on your device using WebAssembly, Web Workers, and the browser's File and Crypto APIs.

## How the privacy model works

It is a static site: HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, with no route handler that accepts file bytes for processing. Heavy engines (PDF, FFmpeg, OCR, model weights) load on demand from the same origin or a public CDN, then run locally.

Open your browser's DevTools network tab while you use any tool. You will see the app shell, scripts, fonts, and worker code load — but no request that carries your file bytes.
